Pier 1 Imports closing at Shoppes at River Crossing in Macon

Signs posted on the doors say the store is closing and clearance sales are underway.

MACON, Ga. — A north Macon furniture and home goods store that's part of a national chain is set to close.

According to signs posted on its door, Pier 1 Imports in the Shoppes at River Crossing off Riverside Drive will close.

A clearance sale has already started, and all sales are final, the signs say.

Earlier this month, the chain announced it's closing up to 450 stores nationwide, which is about half of their locations.

The chain is also looking to scale back their staff by 40% and is reportedly preparing to file for bankruptcy.
