Victim, 29, identified in fatal Perry forklift accident, ran over after falling off forklift, police say

It happened Tuesday at around 3:30 p.m. as a construction company was constructing a fence.

PERRY, Ga. — The victim in a deadly forklift accident has been identified by the Perry Police Department.

The accident happened Tuesday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. at Highway 127 and Woodland Boulevard.

Mjr. Heath Dykes says Twiggs County company AA Fence was constructing a fence.

Andrew Williams Morgan, 29, of Gordon was operating a forklift but fell off the vehicle. That's when one of the forklift's tires ran him over, Dykes said.

Police Chief Alan Everidge says Morgan was taken to the Houston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

"This was a horrible accident and our thoughts go out to the family," Dykes said.

One day after his death, the Perry Police Department confirmed that Morgan's death is under investigation by their department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

They are both conducting a joint investigation into Morgan's death, Perry Police say.
