PERRY, Ga. — A 29-year-old man is dead after being hit by a forklift in Perry while constructing a fence, according to Perry Police Chief Alan Everidge.
Perry Fire Capt. Jesse Riner says it happened Tuesday afternoon at Highway 127 and Woodland Boulevard.
Everidge says that a construction company was building a fence "and somehow the forklift ran over [an] employee."
Riner says fire department crews treated the man on the scene before Houston EMS took the man to the hospital.
But when he arrived at the hospital, Everidge says the man was pronounced dead at the Perry Emergency Room.
Right now, they are working to figure out what happened. They say the man's death is under investigation.
The company constructing the fence is from Twiggs County, Everidge said.
This is a developing story. We will update this story when more information becomes available.
