PERRY, Ga. — The Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter has released its official attendance numbers for the 35th annual Georgia National Fair: 545,382.
That's the second-highest attendance at the fair in its history, the press release said.
The Georgia National Fair ran for 10 days in Perry. This year's dates were Oct. 3 to Oct. 13. Ranging from live shows to rides to food to concerts, the Georgia National Fair brought out all the state fair essentials.
On top of being the second-highest attended state fair in Georgia's history, some days drew massive crowds that themselves were record-breaking.
They include Wednesday, Oct. 9 bringing 52,268 guests to the fairgrounds in Perry. The last day of the fair brought 66,798 guests, including a special visit from Bill Clinton.
But out of the entirety of the 10-day fair, Friday, Oct. 11 had the highest attendance: 75,331 people visited the Georgia National Fair that day.
With the attendance numbers, the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter point to the significant economic impact that the fair brings. This year, they estimate the fair brought $35 million to the Middle Georgia and state community.
They say 15% of the visitors came from out of state and, at the fair alone, the Georgia National Fair raked in $1 million in sales taxes going to local and state revenues.
The press release already looks ahead to next year's Georgia National Fair.
They're encouraging people to mark their calendars: the fair will be held Oct. 2 to Oct. 12 next year.
