MACON, Ga. — A piece of local history came down in Lizella Thursday. Frenchie'sstood in the area for decades.
It was locally owned and through the years customers would save themselves a trip to Macon to grab bread, milk or other basic needs.
An iron claw ripped through the timbers and plaster to level the space.
Bronco Davis says he will never forget his childhood memories of going into the humble building.
"Ever since I was a little boy, we'd go in there and get cookies for a penny or a nickel been here a long time been knowing it ever since my Momma brought us here when we were little," he recalled.
Julie Williamson also grew up in the area.
"I used to walk up here you know Carr's or Frenchie's, if they didn't have it they would so it's sad to see it tore down though," she said sadly.
Carr's is another convenience store across from Frenchy's in Lizella.
But still, for those who loved Frenchie's, the loss of the store will leave a hole in the community.
