Macon mother wants answers after daughter killed early Sunday morning

Early Sunday morning, deputies responded to an argument that led to a fatal shooting.

MACON, Ga. — LaWanda Hines was asleep when she found out her daughter, Shantoria Hines, was shot just after midnight in east Macon early Sunday morning.

She says she is shocked, hurt and angry that someone would shoot her daughter.

When she found out, she says she got dressed to find out which hospital her daughter was at.

"From there I got two phone calls. One from a nurse and another phone call that came through was from the doctor at the hospital that she was transferred to," Hines said. "It wasn't good news."

Deputies were responding to a call about an argument that led to a shooting on Maynard Street in east Macon. The sheriff's office says someone shot Shantoria and 26-year-old Kreo Montgomery.

Hines says investigators haven't reached out to her yet, but she has called the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

"I had to call and try to find out what happened," Hines said.

Hines told 13WMAZ her daughter had a beautiful soul and will always cherish the good memories. She says Shantoria was always just herself.

"She just liked to have a good time. She wasn't a hard person to get along with. She got along with everyone," Hines said.

With not a bad bone in her body, Hines says her daughter was loved and people enjoyed being around her.  Hines says only a book could tell her daughter's story because of all the fun times they had, including the time they went to their hometown of Albany, Georgia only a few weeks before her death.

"Two weeks ago, we went to a party back home where everyone seen her and hadn't seen her in a while," Hines said. "And when I tell you we had a good time, we had a good time."

Hines hopes investigators find out who killed her daughter sooner rather than later. She wants everyone to remember her daughter as a "wonderful, loving person" and whoever did, she wants them to pay.

13WMAZ did reach out to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office for additional information and to request the incident report. We were told, they would release it to us when it is available.
