MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Some top teachers have been at the same school for years, while others are just getting started at a new one.
That's the case for one Georgia Military College Prep School teacher.
Junior Journalist Jackson Eubanks introduces you to Maj. Bailey Smith.
In her first year teaching at GMC Prep, Maj. Smith has made quite the impression on her students.
"I would like to nominate my teacher Maj. Bailey Smith. Major Smith is not only a great teacher, she's my favorite teacher," said student Kelly Ann Waddell.
She says Smith makes learning social studies easy.
"She has these little note packets and we copy it down from a board and it helps me a lot," said Waddell.
Smith teaches fifth grade social studies and skills, like writing and geography. She says it's a joy to see her students every day.
"I just love coming and seeing them every morning and just their smiling faces and eagerness to learn," said Smith.
Waddell feels the same way.
"No matter what, she can make you have a big smile on your face and that makes me very happy," she said.
Smith says being chosen as a top teacher is an honor.
"[It's] just a privilege and honor to be nominated by Kelly Ann. I just love my job," said Smith.
