'An innocent person': Wife emotional after husband killed at random in Forest Park triple shooting

FOREST PARK, Ga. — The wife of a man killed during an active shooter situation Friday where two others were hurt is in disbelief her husband is now gone.

The seemingly random shooting led to a manhunt that went on for hours -- spanning 40 miles between Forest Park and Powder Springs.

Sheree Hill shared a photo of 43-year-old Brandon Harris with 11Alive -- describing him as a loving husband, a doting father of four and passionate about his community.

“He was such a good person and had such a good heart. He would stop and help you do anything. He would help you change your tire. He would see ladies locked out of their cars, and he would help them," Hill said.

Her husband was one of three victims shot when police say Victor Baymon went on an hours-long crime spree in Forest Park.

The crime spree started when Baymon allegedly followed his ex-girlfriend to a tax preparation service and killed Harris, who was preparing her taxes. Police say Baymon then shot a nearby convenience store worker and a construction worker.

The owner of the convenience store where Friday's tragedy started is back open today and Brandon Harris' wife is here trying to make sense of it all.

“The senseless violence has to stop. Mental health is real. There needs to be more resources for people in the community. This was unnecessary," Hill said. "My husband was an innocent person who didn’t deserve this.”

Hill said her husband owned several businesses including a fleet of ice cream trucks -- but was looking to expand his business footprint.

“He had just become manager of the tax store and had hopes of opening up his own tax company," she explained.

The other two shooting victims survived and are recovering in local hospitals. Baymon is listed in critical condition after police took him into custody when he crashed into a tree on Richard D. Sailors Parkway in Powder Springs.
