Man dead, brother arrested after shooting in Macon

The shooting happened on Fair Street on July 15.

MACON, Ga. — A man is dead after being shot at a home in Macon, according to Coroner Leon Jones.

Jones says 52-year-old Sean McCoy died on Monday after being shot on July 15.

According to a report from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, around 1:22 a.m. a deputy arrived at a home in the 3600 block of Fair Street about a person shot.

When the deputy got there, another man flagged him down and brought him inside the home. There, the deputy found McCoy lying on the kitchen floor with a towel on his stomach.

The owner of the home and McCoy's brother, Matthew Walker, came out of a bedroom and told the deputy he was coming into the house when McCoy was shot and he didn't know what led up to the shooting.

The man who brought the deputy inside was also asked about what happened and he said he didn't see anything.

The report says all three men were clearly intoxicated and there were beer cans and bottles all over the kitchen and living room.

Walker was later arrested for aggravated assault. On Monday, he was also charged with murder.

Jones says an autopsy for McCoy is scheduled for later in the week.
