Monroe County Sherriff's Office arrest man near High Falls with nearly 17 grams of meth, release says

They say Kenneth Hughes, 54, was found with 17 grams of meth and GHB, which the Monroe County Sheriff's Office referred to as the "date rape drug."

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — A man was arrested over near High Falls in Monroe County on Thursday on various drug charges, according to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office press release.

The release said Kenneth Hughes, 54, was pulled over for a traffic stop just before 12 a.m. by Monroe County deputies.

They said K-9 units flagged the vehicle and after a search, the deputies found nearly 17 grams of meth. They also found Gamma-hydroxybutyrate, or GHB, which the sheriff's office said is commonly known as the “date rape drug."

The release said Hughes was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act and possession of drug related objects.

He is currently held at Monroe County Jail without bond.
