Section of North Jefferson Street to close next week. Here's where, why and how long

While they don't expect the repairs to last too long, here's what you need to know for your morning commute.

BALDWIN, Ga. — A major road in Baldwin County will be partly closed next week as authorities do repairs, according to a press release from the city of Milledgeville.

They say a section of North Jefferson Street will be closed on Wednesday as the water department does repairs on a water main.

The section of the road between Ivey Weaver Road and Dunlap Road will be closed starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, but the water department says drivers in Baldwin County can expect the road to reopen "by the close of business Wednesday," the water department says.

They also expect the left turning lane of Dunlap Road and North Jefferson Street will be closed during the repairs too.

Amid the closure, drivers are encouraged to take a detour. Traffic heading south on North Jefferson Street and from Emmanuel Road are encouraged to take Ivey Weaver Road during the repairs.

Drivers heading north on North Jefferson Street towards Lake Sinclair will be rerouted on Dunlap Road.

The water and maintenance department also says customers north of Dunlap Road "may experience lower than normal water pressure," the press release says.

People driving near the construction are encouraged to "proceed with caution."
