MACON, Ga. — A man was arrested for an armed carjacking near downtown Macon, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
They say Christopher Dewayne Bonner, 22, was arrested after a short chase, and is being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. The release says Bonner is facing charges of aggravated assault felony theft and car theft. They say Bonner's bond has been denied.
Per the report, deputies first responded to a call around 2:00 a.m. on the 1600 block of Anthony Road, where an armed vehicle hijacking had happened. The report says the vehicle's owner was approached by a masked individual holding a gun, who then took the owner's car.
They say no one was injured in the hijacking.
The release says Bonner and the vehicle were later seen in the 3400 block of Napier Avenue. After a brief chase, Bonner was arrested, according to the report.
This case is still under investigation.
