Man in custody following shooting at apartment complex in Fort Valley, police searching for second suspect

No one was hurt, but bullet fragments hit near a bedridden woman in one of the apartments

FORT VALLEY, Ga. — The Fort Valley Police Department took a man into custody after a shooting on Thursday, but they are still searching for another person Friday afternoon, according to Police Chief DJ Flores.

He says a shoot-out broke out Thursday at the Lakeview Apartments in Fort Valley just after 8 p.m., which Flores says had previously had violence issues.

During the shootout, Flores says the two shooters unloaded at least 10 to 20 shots.

While no one was hurt, Flores said bullet fragments hit near a bedridden woman in one of the apartments.

Officers took a 19-year-old man into custody after witnesses said he was possibly involved in the shooting. He was driving a white Camaro, which witnesses say sped off after the shooting.

Flores said they are currently interviewing that person. They don't believe the 19-year-old lived at the apartment complex, Flores said, and he had an address listed in Warner Robins.

However, Flores says that the other shooter has not been arrested and they are collecting evidence to hopefully identify them.

They also impounded the car, and are processing it for possible evidence.

Flores says that previous investigations at the Lakeview Apartments have built with law enforcement, which he said helped them investigate this shooting.

If you have any information, you can call CrimeStoppers at 877-68-CRIME or the Fort Valley Police Department at 478-825-3383. Flores says that if you wish to remain anonymous, that is fine
