'We are all in this together' | Bibb County community gathers for 'Night to Unite'

Captain George Meadows says the annual event brings the community together to unite against crime.

MACON, Ga. — Dozens of neighbors gathered with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office to unite against crime by spending the day with deputies, local government officials and firefighters.

The Bibb Sheriff's Office hosted the event at close to 30 locations to get people more engaged with law enforcement.

“Brought people out in the community into the center and they got to meet other folks and people they may have not known were in the community,” Faulk said.

Captain George Meadows with the Bibb Sheriff's Office says it's going to take everybody's help to fight crime.

“Fighting crime, it's all about if you see something, say something, if you don't say something and you see something then we're all missing out, we are all in this together,” Meadows said.

Meadows says community events like this play a huge part in preventing crime

"Thats why these people are gathered here tonight from different communities around South Bibb to come together as a team and learn what to do to try to help us keep them safe," Meadows said.

Captain Meadows says they've seen a decrease in crime in South Bibb and they hope to keep it that way.

At the South Bibb Recreation complex, Macon Bibb Firefighters also handed out hats to kids and gave them a tour of a fire truck.
