BSO: Man shot at downtown Macon gas station dies from his injuries

Just over a week after being shot at Macon gas station, they say the victim was pronounced dead on Monday.

MACON, Ga. — A man shot at a gas station on Spring Street just over a week ago has died from his injuries, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

They say Tavarus Hunter, 40, was pronounced dead at Atrium Health Navicent on Monday.

According to the press release, Hunter was shot at around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Exxon gas station on Spring Street.

When deputies arrived, they say Hunter was found suffering a gunshot wound.

The sheriff's office says he was then taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition. Then, on Monday, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones pronounced Hunter dead, and they say his next of kin has been notified.

No one else was hurt during the shooting, but they say the circumstances of Hunter's death are still under investigation.

If you have any information, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office says you can call the sheriff's office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
