MACON, Ga. — We are learning new details about a shooting at a Bloomfield apartment complex that left one dead and another critically injured.
After four days in the hospital, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office confirmed the victim in the shooting was released from the hospital after being "critically" injured.
But a newly obtained incident report from the sheriff's office is offering new details about the dispute.
The incident report indicates that the man who was killed in the shooting, 48-year-old Tausheba Thompson, is considered the "suspect" in the shooting.
The shooting happened at around 3 p.m. at the Bloomfield Townhomes last Thursday.
In an email to 13WMAZ, the sheriff's office confirmed that — at this stage in the investigation — they believe Thompson may have provoked the shooting.
"It is believed that Thompson was the aggressor at the time of the incident which is why he was listed as the suspect," Sgt. Christopher Williams with the sheriff's office said in an email. "However, this incident is still under active investigation and that could change."
According to the incident report, Thompson was found unresponsive on the ground suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
But it appeared the victim and Thompson exchanged gunfire, Williams told 13WMAZ.
At this time, however, investigators are still trying to figure out what led up to the shooting.
"The reason why is a part of the investigation," Williams said.
The shooting is still under investigation. If you have any information about the shooting, you can call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
