Man killed, woman in 'critical condition' after shooting in west Macon, sheriff's office says

They say it happened just after 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

MACON, Ga. — A Thursday afternoon shooting at the Bloomfield Townhomes left a man dead and a woman in "critical condition," according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

They say a call came into the 911 center just after 3 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found two people shot.

One victim was a 22-year-old woman and the other was a 48-year-old man, the sheriff's office says.

Paramedics then arrived on the scene and took both of the victims to a hospital for treatment.

The sheriff's office was notified by medical staff that the man died from his injuries and the woman is currently in "critical condition," the press release said.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office identified the man Tausheba James Thompson after they identified by deputy coroner Luanne Stone.

They say no one else was harmed.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.

If you have any information about the shooting, you can call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
