MACON, Ga. — A man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly shooting and killing a man sitting on a porch during a Macon party, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office
The sheriff's office says Gregory Williams Thomas, 36, was shot and killed outside a duplex in the 1900 block of Cedar Avenue, which is near Mercer University Drive. They say the shooting happened at around 9:30 p.m. on April 14.
While the press release did not offer any details about what led up to the shooting, they say Willie James Haugabrook III, 39, was arrested Wednesday in Thomas' death.
They say Haugabrook was located in the 4200 block Pinedale Drive at around 10:20 a.m. He was ultimately arrested by the Sheriff's Office gang unit and the U.S. Marshal's Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Haugabrook was charged with murder, the press release said. They say he is also accused of a hit and run and stealing a car, but those charges are unrelated to Thomas' shooting.
He is currently in the Bibb County jail where he is being held without bond.
