MACON, Ga. — For those looking to get some fall cleaning done, Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful had you covered.
The group is holding a major recycling event, looking to clean up a lot of recyclable waste. They were shredding paper, recycling plastics, aluminum cans, clothing accessories, kitchenware, small electrical appliances, toys and CDs.
The event itself is being held in recognition of America Recycles Day. America's Thrift collected the various recycled clothes, accessories, appliances and more, while Coca-Cola and Ryland were onsite to help recycle the plastic bottles and aluminum cans.
There was also a massive shred monster to handle all of the paper so it could be properly recycled.
The event offered a cost-saving initiative. Instead of having to pay to have things like documents shredded, Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful allowed people to do it for free.
There were several organizations and groups on site helping with the recycling. They included:
- Mercer University
- Howard High
- Stratford Academy
- Upward Bound
- Members from AKA
- AARP
- Meals on Wheels
The event itself ran from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Theron Ussery Park on North Macon Park Drive.
