MACON, Ga. — Former President Donald Trump will be in Macon this weekend for a rally. It happens Sunday evening at Macon's Atrium Health Amphitheater.
The rally starts at 6:30 p.m. but doors open earlier at 2:30 p.m. The amphitheater is on Eisenhower Parkway - next to the Macon Mall. Tickets are available now at this link, and they're free, but they're first-come-first-serve.
According to its website- the amphitheater has 12,000 seats.
The rally could be good news for some businesses like the S&S Cafeteria, which is less than a mile away.
CEO Richard Pogue said they're getting ready now.
"Typically like on a Sunday that's the busiest day for us anyways so we're- the good thing about a cafeteria is you can ramp up quick. We do most of our stuff from scratch so to- we have big kitchens, we have a lot of employees," Pogue said.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office will be working the event, along with other agencies, like the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, and the Houston County Sheriff's Office.
Pogue said events like this always bring in a crowd- boosting business for Macon.
"It does bring a lot of people to that area of town and we're just really glad that that part of town is getting revitalized, and we're seeing a lot of new faces," Pogue said.
This could be Trump's last campaign event in Georgia, as early voting ended Friday. According to his campaign team, Trump will hold another rally the next day, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
As of Friday evening, we are still waiting to hear from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office about the traffic advisory for Sunday's event. Parking is free at the Macon Mall, which is right next door. They do have different rules about blankets and lawn chairs for each event, so keep an eye on their Facebook page for those details.
The amphitheater has said in the past that they do not allow tailgating.
