MACON, Ga. — Early voting across Georgia has broken records.
Statewide, over 55.4% of the state's active voters have cast their ballots already, totaling just over 4 million votes, according to the Georgia Secretary of State website.
That is "unprecedented" levels of early voting in the Peach State, the Secretary of States Office said.
The early voting numbers for 2024 tower over the most recent presidential election. In 2020, nearly 2.7 million voters cast their ballots early, meaning early voting runout is roughly 49% higher in 2024 than four years ago.
In Central Georgia, voters have also come out in droves to cast their ballots early. There were nearly 229,000 early and absentee ballots cast here in Central Georgia during early voting.
To put that in context, nearly 229,000 early voters represent 51.3% of active voters in Central Georgia, which is just slightly lower than the state average.
But, you may be asking: what about your county?
Well, here's a look at the county-by-county early voting totals for Central Georgia. The percentage included after the total number of votes is the share of active voters in that specific county who turned out to vote early and absentee.
Houston County leads with the most amount of votes, but it's Pulaski County who has the highest percentage of early and absentee voters. Take a full look below.
