MACON, Ga. — The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is asking for help finding a suspect connected to a July murder in east Macon, a release said.
The man is connected to the death of Demarious Brown, 31, who was shot and killed on July 13 at the Gray Parc apartments on Gray Highway.
Brown's girlfriend said he argued with the person at the door before he was shot and killed. She did not recognize the voice.
The sheriff's office provided ring camera videos of the incident. In the first video, the man entered into Brown's apartment around 9:40 p.m. A second video showed him leaving about seven minutes later.
The incident report offers a better picture of what happened during that time period.
The report says that Brown's girlfriend heard him argue with a man. She heard Brown say something to the effect of "I do not want that," which is then when she heard gunshots ring out.
She hid in a closet and the man then stormed into the room and grabbed her, the incident report said.
That's when the man said "you better not say anything else" and then threw her into another closet and ran off.
The video shows that he was an older man with a beard. According to the sheriff's office, he was wearing a Dickies' brand safety vest, a dark-colored long-sleeve T-shirt underneath, dark-colored pants, a Seattle Mariners hat, brown boots, gloves and a mask covering his face.
Shortly after Brown's death, 13WMAZ spoke with his family. His father, Eric Brown, said that he believed that his son knew the killer.
"He don't open the door for anybody, he said. "So whoever it was, he had to have known him."
The video shows the man entering Brown's apartment immediately without knocking or ringing the doorbell.
The Brown family is offering a $10,000 reward for anyone who has further information that leads to a conviction.
"The only thing I can tell the person - come forward," Eric Brown said. "Because we're gonna find out who you are. That's all I want, you just come forward."
Anyone with information on the suspect's identity or location can call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
