Macon roads closed for annual Labor Day Road Races | Everything you need to know

All roads should be clear by 11:00 a.m. according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

MACON, Ga. — Several roads will be closed in Macon on Monday morning, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The 47th Annual Labor Day Road Races are coming to town, and traffic will be a bit slower because of it. Per the release, traffic headed into Macon via Vineville Avenue will be blocked starting at 7:00 a.m. Traffic along that road will be sent down Hines Terrace.

They say the 5k road race is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 10k at 8 a.m. The 10k will start from the Run Fit Sports on Forsyth Road. 

The outside lane of Forsyth Road, Vineville Avenue will be accessible until the Forsyth Street and downtown Walton Sr Way intersection. 

According to the release, all roads should be clear by 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The following roads will be blocked until the races have finished, and will be monitored by intermittent traffic control: 

Forsyth Road to Vineville Avenue

Vineville Avenue to Forsyth Street

Forsyth Street to DT Walton Sr.Way (behind city hall)

DT Walton to Poplar Street

Poplar Street to First Street

First Street to Cotton Ave

Cotton Ave to Second Street

Second Street to Walnut Street

Walnut Street to Seventh Street

Seventh Street into Central City Park
