Macon mom charged after 5-year-old shoots his 6-year-old brother

Investigators say the two boys were playing with a gun they found at the house when the shooting happened

MACON, Ga. — A Macon mom is in jail on child cruelty charges after her son shot his older brother last week.

According to a news release, Bibb County Crimes Against Children Investigators arrested 32-year-old Traveshia Ivory for one count of cruelty to children.

That charge stem from an incident at a home on Heaton Drive on Feb. 5.

It was reported to deputies that the 6-year-old and 5-year-old were playing with a gun they found in their home.

The 5-year-old was handling the gun when he accidentally shot his 6-year-old brother in the shoulder.

The child's injuries were non-life-threatening.

Ivory's bond is set at $5,700.
