MACON, Ga. — Five people are in custody after they allegedly stole a car from the parking lot of a north Macon hotel over the weekend.

According to a news release, deputies were sent to the Homewood Suites on Bass Road around 2:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a stolen car.

It was reported to deputies that a witness saw two people breaking into a car -- setting off its alarm in the process – and driving away with it.

The witness also said they saw a red SUV following the stolen vehicle.

A description was given to all patrol units and deputies saw the two vehicles pull into the Flash Foods down the street.

The release says that when deputies tried to talk to the people in the stolen red 2003 Infiniti FX35, they ran away and were caught after a short chase.

The three were identified as: 20-year-old Kalongki Chapman, 19-year-old Deuntra Ayers, and 17-year-old Demarcious Johnson.

Two juveniles were also taken into custody; one 15-year-old female and one 15-year-old male.

The sheriff’s office says three guns were found in the vehicles, and that the Ford Escape following the Infiniti was reported stolen from Albany.

They also found guns, laptops, jewelry, cell phones and knives inside the stolen vehicles.
