Macon County Schools releases early Friday following an overnight shooting at the high school, school staffer confirms

The school district made a post on Facebook announces it would release students at 9 a.m.

MACON COUNTY, Ga. — Macon County Schools released its students early on Friday after a room was shot up overnight at the high school, according to a staffer who answered the phone at the school. 

At this time, there are no injuries reported, and there are no reports of anyone witnessing the alleged shooting. The staffer at the school did confirm there were broken windows. She would not give her name.

A post on Facebook says: “Due to an unforeseen incident beyond our control, all students will be released early at 9:00 am.   Students will receive breakfast.  After breakfast, buses will begin loading at 9:00 am, and all car riders may be picked up at 9:00 am.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
