More restaurants coming to Macon?: Macon-Bibb Planning & Zoning Commission shows tentative restaurant proposals added to September agenda

The group will come together in September to vote on these tentatively listed new restaurants and buildings

MACON, Ga. — Macon’s food scene may see some new additions.

On Wednesday, the Macon-Bibb Planning & Zoning Commission announced that multiple new restaurants and other additions were tentatively added to their Sept. 23 agenda.

While these locations aren’t confirmed to be coming to Macon, the commission will vote on each of these new additions and more, if they aren’t removed from the agenda before the meeting.

Here's what restaurants were mentioned in the planning and zoning agenda

Huey Magoo's

Based on the planning and zoning schedule, chicken tender restaurant Huey Magoo’s headlines the group. The plan is for the restaurant to have a drive-through and a small section for outdoor seating.

The current plan is to have the restaurant on Bass Road. The document provided by the Planning & Zoning Commission had two addresses, 1540 Bass Road and 1512 Bass Road.

Huey Magoo’s refers to themselves as “The Filet Mignon of Chicken®,” and provides a similar menu to somewhere like Zaxby’s or Raising Cane’s.

They offer several grilled or fried tender meals, which come with chicken tenders, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast and “Magoo’s Dip,” which is their special sauce.

You can also have them tossed in a buffalo, lemon pepper, garlic parmesan or sweet heat sauce.

They also offer salads and chicken sandwiches. The sandwiches have multiple tenders — that can come plain or tossed in buffalo sauce — and come with pickles and Magoo’s sauce.

If the Huey Magoo’s does open its doors in Macon, they’ll be the third location in Central Georgia. There’s currently a location in Warner Robins and in Milledgeville.

IHOP, QuikTrip and more:

Alongside Huey Magoo’s, the Planning & Zoning Commission agenda listed tentative plans for an IHOP and QuikTrip that would be coming to 5201 Mercer University Drive.

The IHOP would be on one side of the street, while the QuikTrip gas station would be on the other.

Finally, the agenda tentatively listed a new entertainment facility called Club Colossal. It’ll apparently be an event center with live entertainment.

According to a sketch, the facility would have a bar, around 15 tables and four sofa chairs, which would all be facing the stage. The tentative location is at 2475 Pio Nono Avenue.

Planning and Zoning would have to approve the locations before they could start construction.
