'I love helping them develop': Meet Coach Marquitta Harris from Hunt Elementary

Kindergartner Ashton Brown has special needs, so his mother Dantever Hicks wrote in to express her gratitude for everything Coach Harris does for her and her son.

PEACH COUNTY, Ga. — All across Central Georgia, there are teachers who connect with their students and impact their lives in a positive way. Sometimes the student can't quite express what their teacher means to them so a parent will step in.

Marquitta Harris has been in education for 26 years. She is a physical education teacher in her 7th year at Hunt Elementary and loves the connections she makes with her students. For one student, Harris has made a big impact. Kindergartner Ashton Brown has special needs, so his mother Dantever Hicks wrote in to express her gratitude for everything Coach Harris does for her and her son.

Harris even helps Ashton with his sight words and helps calm him down when he is having a rough day. It is just a few examples of how dedicated Coach Harris is to her students.

"It's amazing. It's awesome. I love the babies. I love helping them develop," Harris said. " It brings joy to my heart every day to teach these babies every day."

Congratulations Coach Harris!
