MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — When 13WMAZ got this email from an 8th grader at Monroe County Middle School we had a decision to make.
Two teachers?? Two surprises??
So that is what we did.
Two teachers were nominated by one student, Elijah Mackey.
Mrs. Anni Horne is Elijah's 8th grade ELA teacher and he really values her sense of humor.
"Mrs. Horne is definitely the most liked teacher in the school. she loves to tell jokes about her height.. which is one of the funniest things. she gets the opinion of the students before she does something," he said in his letter.
Mrs. Horne says she loves her kids.
"The kids, I love this age group. Middle school is tough but I love teaching middle school," she said.
Elijah says his favorite middle school teacher is his 7th grade social studies teacher, Miss Anna Coleman.
"Miss Coleman always used to make learning fun, she never failed to put a smile on my face. She may not be my teacher anymore but she will always be my favorite middle school teacher," Elijah said in his letter.
Last year was her first year teaching.
"I wanted to teach just so that I could embrace my own level of learning and hopefully instill that in my own students and get them to love learning as much as I do," Coleman said.
Congratulations Mrs. Horne and Miss Coleman.
