Man arrested in Jones County after $1.3 million ticket scam, including selling fake UGA tickets, release says

A Facebook post from the Jones County Sheriff's Office said they arrested the man for selling tickets to Bulldog fans. The problem? The tickets never existed

JONES COUNTY, Ga. — A man was arrested for a fake ticket scheme involving UGA football tickets, according to the Jones County Sheriff's Office.

The release said Matthew Neet was charged with theft by deception for a fake ticket scheme that earned him over $1.3 million.  He had around 30 or more victims across Georgia, per the report.

Neet, according to the release, had been selling fake football and concert tickets, alongside real estate, that never existed. They added that this isn't Neet's first scam.

The sheriff's office said he was arrested a week ago in Louisiana and then was extradited to the Jones County Jail on Tuesday. He was denied bond and has holds from several other agencies and organizations.
