Flooding forces Highway 19 to close north of Wheeler County, per report

They say they do not have an estimate for when the road will reopen.

WHEELER COUNTY, Ga. — Parts of Highway 19 in Wheeler County are closed due to flooding, according to Wheeler County EMA Director Steve Adams.

He says the road is closed north of Glenwood, near the intersection of Ochwalkee Road where Ochwalkee Creek crosses over.

"The flooding has run across that road since well before daylight," he said. "It's completely closed, and will be closed for a while."

Adams didn't have an estimate for when the roads would be able to re-open. He also said several other roads in Wheeler County had been hit pretty hard by flooding, but EMA workers couldn't tell how bad the damage was.

"None of them's closed yet, but some of them got washed pretty bad," he said. "We have to wait until the water goes down to see what's going on with them."
