GRIFFIN, Ga. — After weeks without answers, two people have been arrested in connection to a missing man from Laurens County.
Garland Warren drove off from his home in Rentz over two weeks ago. His car was found on Friday in Griffin, and on Monday, the Spalding County Sheriff's Office announced they arrested two people for stealing his car.
They said Robert Peppers admitted to finding Warren's car in a ditch, and driving it to a Griffin Dollar General parking lot. Kelly Osborne admitted she was following Peppers and picked him up after he dropped off the vehicle.
They live together about ten minutes away from the Dollar General, and their neighbor Kenneth Meeks said he saw them being arrested on Saturday.
"They were here six, seven hours investigating the house," Meeks said.
He said one officer with the Spalding County Sheriff's Office pulled up to the house first, and when they saw Peppers and Osborne were home, they called for about seven more deputy cars to pull up to the home.
"Everybody that pulled up got out with guns on em. Went in the house, got her, brought her out in handcuffs first. Brought him out next. He is screaming, 'Is this what you get for helping somebody?'" Meeks said.
He said they moved in next door to him about a year ago. Warren's daughter, Michelle Warren, said her dad had no connections to the county.
"It's very surprising because my daddy had no business up there. No relations with family, no relations with business. Nothing," she said.
The Spalding County Sheriff's office said they found items that belonged to her dad in Peppers and Osborne's home.
They are both charged with theft by receiving stolen property. The Spalding County Sheriff's office said they found the ditch where warren's car was found. They also found a piece of mail that belonged to him there.
They're asking the public to refrain from searching right now, because they don't want any evidence to get damaged.
