MACON, Ga. — A firearm was found inside the Bibb County jail, according to an email from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's David Davis confirmed to 13WMAZ that the handgun was loaded with two rounds.
It all started with an anonymous tip that there was a gun inside one of the cell block areas inside the Bibb County Law Enforcement.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team and Corrections Community Emergency Response Team conducted a search. Then, they found a gun hidden inside a wall-mounted telephone inside a dayroom for the inmate.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, the investigation is still ongoing.
They say they will release more information when the investigation is completed.
