Central Georgia natives flock to Warner Robins for international celebration

The event, hosted at Perkins Field, brought around 24 different countries to celebrate their cultures

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The City of Warner Robins celebrated a wide array of cultures on Saturday, as they hosted an international celebration.

The International City looked to highlight multiple cultures in their International City Experience at Perkins Field.

The event looked to represent around 24 different countries and invited those from all over to experience the "rich tapestry of cultures" that makes up the Warner Robins community.

The event had several exhibits and activities that showed the traditions, artistry and customs from different cultures around the world.

With several various activities and displays happening at the event, the group wanted to highlight the Ofrenda, which will be presented by the Community Culture and Arts Corp., in honor of the start of Hispanic Heritage month.

The traditional Mexican altar, according to a press release, provided "a meaningful space for reflection and remembrance." The release added that those in attendance will have a chance to honor loved ones.

Other displays included various dances, like a Lion Dance performed by the Chien Hong School of Kung Fu, Latin Fusion dances by Ritmo Soul Bunch and Egyptian Belly Dancing by Perry Belly Dancing. There was also live music.

There were plenty of vendors in attendance, including Cuban Island Cafe, J & A Food on the Go and Mad Mexican.

There were also several non-food vendors, including ones selling 3D-printed flexible dragons and other creatures that are placed in a matching egg, various jewelry, handcrafted rag dolls and flower felt bands and more.

Children could play various percussion instruments from around the world, take part in a character meet and greet or even make personalized passports.

The event ran from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
