FORSYTH, Ga. — The GBI announced the arrest of a Forsyth man on charges he stole police equipment from the Woodbury Police Department, and it's the second such case against the same man.
A release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the latest arrest is tied to 57-year-old Jerald Rafferzeder's time as interim police chief in Woodbury, Georgia.
That's a small town in west Georgia between Columbus and Atlanta.
The release says agents believe Rafferzeder stole a department-issued tactical vest worth $1,500 after he left the department.
The GBI says the Woodbury police called them to investigate the theft on January 31st.
13WMAZ checked with the Meriwether County Jail Saturday morning, and they say he bonded out.
Last month we reported that the GBI arrested Rafferzeder on charges he took a lidar system during his time working with the Milner Police Department and sold it for $800.
The GBI says once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Meriwether County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
