Dublin attorney Jason Rowland arrested on aggravated sodomy charges, sheriff's office said

The charges date back to an incident from July 28, 2022. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office handed the investigation over to the GBI.

WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. — Jason Rowland, a Dublin attorney, was arrested on Wednesday by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office on the charge of aggravated sodomy, Major Jeffrey Coleman with the sheriff's office told 13WMAZ.

On Monday, Rowland was indicted for allegedly having "unlawful" sexual contact with a person "with force and against the will of said person," according to an indictment in Johnson County Judicial Circuit.

The indictment says it happened on July 28, 2022 in Johnson County.

According to Coleman, the investigation into Rowland was passed to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation "due to the fact that he is an attorney in a small county," Coleman said.

After the indictment, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office arrested Rowland around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. They say he turned himself in at the Johnson County Law Enforcement Center.

He was later released on a $10,000 bond, Coleman said.

While Rowland shares the same last name as Sheriff Greg Rowland, and the two men live near each other, Coleman does not believe the two are related.

He says that the sheriff "has a no-nonsense policy" on crime in Johnson County.
