UNADILLA, Ga. — A Dooly State Prison shakedown on Thursday ended with contraband cellphones confiscated and seven inmates stabbed after a fight, the Georgia Department of Corrections confirms.
The details of the fight are murky and it is unclear who stabbed whom.
However, in a statement to 13WMAZ, the GDC confirmed that a fight broke out among seven inmates at the prison.
They say the fight broke out after a facility shakedown, which confiscated contraband cellphones.
The GDC says that each seven inmates suffered "non-life-threatening injuries." When pressed about whether those injuries were stab wounds, the department confirmed that each of the seven inmates was stabbed.
The prison, which is located in Unadilla, can house up to 1,702 prisons, according to the department.
