Deputy Coroner: 76-year-old man dead after apparent suicide on I-475 north in Macon

It happened at around 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning.

MACON, Ga. — A man is dead after what investigators are calling an apparent suicide on I-475 north in Macon, according to Bibb County Deputy Coroner Luanne Stone.

Stone said it happened right at the bridge near Mercer University Drive at around 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning.

The 76-year-old man was pronounced dead at 11:15 a.m.  The next of kin has not been notified at this time and they have not released his name.

Stone said the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is calling it an apparent suicide and they are investigating how he got onto the highway, including the possibility that he jumped from the bridge.

13WMAZ has reached out to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office for additional information and will update the story when more information is available.
