Dead body found on Emery Highway Lane, Bibb County Sheriff's Office says

They say they found the body while looking into a call about a stolen vehicle

MACON, Ga. — A dead body was found on Emery Highway Lane in Macon, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

The release says they were responding to a call about a stolen vehicle around 3:00 p.m. when deputies found a body at the dead end of Emery Highway Lane.

They do not know if the body and the stolen vehicle were connected.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said the body was found in a trash can that had been drilled shut. He said that the body had likely been there three or four months.

Jones said he could not determine the race or gender of the body at this time.

The sheriff's office says the body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy on Wednesday morning.
