Crawford County detention officer charged with giving contraband to inmates, per report

They say King had given cell phones and vapes to inmates at the Crawford County jail. He turned himself in to the sheriff's office, per the report.

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ga. — A Crawford County detention officer has been charged with giving contraband to inmates, according to a release from the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.

They say the sheriff's office learned on Sept. 4 that Octavious King had given a cell phone and vapes to inmates. He was placed on administrative leave on the same day, per the release.

The release says they then began an investigation into the situation, and found probable cause that King had been giving items to inmates.

He has been charged with one count of violating his oath and one count of providing contraband to inmates, according to the release.

They say King turned himself into the Crawford County Sheriff's Office on Friday. He has been fired from his position with the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, and his bond is set at $10,000.
