JONES COUNTY, Ga. — UPDATE: The Jones County Water Department has lifted the boil water advisory, as of a Facebook post on Wednesday.
The Jones County Water Department has issued a boil water advisory for parts of the county, according to a Facebook post from the department.
The boil water advisory was caused by a water outage in Jones County, and will affect Lite-N-Tie Road, Clinton Crossing, Twin Lakes Drive, Aaron Circle, Homer Roberts Road, Graham Road and Walnut Grove Road.
The water department has not reported the cause of the water outage.
"We are still trying to get your water outage restored as we speak," the post says. "When we do, you will unfortunately be under a boil water advisory for the next 24-48 hours."
This is an ongoing situation. 13WMAZ will continue to update the story as more updates become available.
What to do while under a boil water advisory
When under a boil water advisory, you should only use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking and brushing your teeth, according to the CDC.
When boiling the water, allow it to come to a full rolling boil for 1 minute, allow the water to cool and then use as needed. The CDC says you still need to do this even if your tap water is filtered.
Additionally, you shouldn't use water from any appliances that are connected to a water line. For instance, using your ice and water machines connected to your refrigerator.
