Boil water order in effect for Eastman, city announces

The city says a water main was hit and — for the time being — all customers receiving water from the city need to boil water before use.

EASTMAN, Ga. — Water customers in Eastman are under a boil water advisory after a water main was hit on Tuesday, according to the city.

They say it happened on 11th Avenue and it caused low water pressure for some people in the area

But for the time being, customers who receive water services from the city of Eastman need to boil their water before many everyday uses like brushing your teeth, drinking, eating and more.

What to do while under a boil water advisory

When under a boil water advisory, you should only use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking and brushing your teeth, according to the CDC.

When boiling the water, allow it to come to a full rolling boil for 1 minute, allow the water to cool and then use as needed. The CDC says you still need to do this even if your tap water is filtered.

Effective immediately and until further notice, all customers receiving water services from the City of Eastman are under a boil advisory. We will keep you updated as we receive new information.

Additionally, you shouldn't use water from any appliances that are connected to a water line. For instance, using your ice and water machines connected to your refrigerator.
