Sasquatch leaves big footprint in Central Georgia, according to viral Facebook post

Matthew John Moneymaker from the TV show "Finding Bigfoot" posted about "very credible sighting" in his Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization Facebook group.

FORT VALLEY, Ga. — "Finding Bigfoot" was a popular show on Animal Planet, and finding the mythical, blurry beast has been on many people's bucket lists for decades.

But now, according to a Facebook post by a Bigfoot enthusiast group, it is the mission that some in Central Georgia may soon be on after an alleged Sasquatch was spotted in Fort Valley.

The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, or the BFRO for short, was established in 1995 and now has a Facebook group with more than 76,000 members.

Matthew John Moneymaker, the founder of the BFRO, has made several posts over the last few days about a "very credible" Bigfoot sighting in the Fort Valley-Macon area.

According to his IMDB page, Moneymaker was a recurring cast member on the Animal Planet TV show "Finding Bigfoot" and has been an active member of the Bigfoot community since he was a student at UCLA in the 1980s.

"Eight foot tall black-furred Sasquatch spotted running across Old Hwy 96 at 9 am outside Fort Valley — 26 miles southwest of Macon, Georgia." Moneymaker's post said. "This is a very credible sighting. There is a real Sasquatch in this vicinity right now. The location is near Fort Valley, 2.6 miles due west of Blue Bird plant (builds school buses) on Old Hwy 96."

Many of you may have seen where Sasquach (aka Bigfoot) was spotted in Fort Valley, Ga, just yesterday. Well, for the...

The post has gone viral, with nearly 1,000 shares. Now, locals are getting in on the fun posting about the furry creature. The Museum of Aviation Robins posted several photos of a Sasquatch photoshopped at various landmarks around their campus, including in a plane. The post  comes with a handy map with Bigfoot prints showing where it was last "spotted."

The post from the museum's Facebook page said, "It looks like the hairy creature took a trip down 96 and enjoyed a romp around the Museum of Aviation's grounds before disappearing yet again into the unknown. We truly hope he enjoyed his visit with us and hope that you will come for a visit too; just don't climb into the aircraft like he did!"

Other posts included rally cries to go out searching for Bigfoot, like "We ride at dawn!" and "Who tryna go Squatchin?"

Others made note that the new Jack Links plant, now under construction, is about 7 miles from where this Sasquatch was allegedly spotted.

It had some questioning if it was the Sasquatch mascot for the popular beef jerky brand lurking in the Central Georgia woods.

Fort Valley has a lot of things: Blue Bird, Buc-ees and perhaps now, Bigfoot. You may soon hear someone saying  '"I think there's a squatch in these woods.'"
