Bibb deputies investigating after car passenger shot in head

It happened Sunday evening, when two people were driving near Columbus Road and Montpelier Avenue.

MACON, Ga. — Bibb County deputies are investigating after a man showed up with a gunshot wound to the head at a hospital Sunday evening.

A press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened near the intersection of Columbus Road and Montpelier Avenue just before 6 p.m.

The release says a 24-year-old man and his friend were turning onto Montpelier Avenue when they heard gunshots. That's when the 24-year-old realized he was hit in the head.

The release says he was then driven home and then taken to Coliseum Northside Hospital by a family member.

When he got there, the hospital was put on lock-down, but it was later lifted, according to the release.

The man is in stable condition, the sheriff's office says.

No one else was injured, and there's no information on the suspect at this time.

It's still under investigation, and anyone with information can call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
