FORT VALLEY, Ga. — A 17-year-old has been arrested on charges of armed robbery near Fort Valley State University in Peach County, according to a Fort Valley Police Department press release.
The release said police went out to the 100 block of Molette Street around 12:45 a.m. early Saturday morning after receiving a call about someone being shot.
The release added that they found Cameron Hicks, 17, and another man, Isaiah Greer, 20, who had been shot. Greer was quickly transported to Atrium Health Navicent for treatment.
After he was transported to the hospital, the police began its investigation. The release said during this time, officers interviewed a person at the scene who said he been robbed.
Fort Valley Police Department's Community Action Team (C.A.T), according to the release, determined that Hicks and Greer were robbing the man with guns — guns they later learned were stolen.
Hicks and Greer took the person's phone to prevent them from calling for help, when the person being robbed shot Greer.
The release said that, when officers went to Atrium Health Navicent to speak with Greer, they learned he had refused treatment and already left.
Hicks was arrested on charges of armed robbery, possession of firearm during certain crimes, and theft by taking while using a stolen firearm. Greer, who has warrant for his arrest, has the same charges.
