'It's taught me that you need resilience' | Achieve Academy student launches bath bomb business inspired by personal struggle

Blake Cazeau sells all-natural bath bombs. He said these help his and his mom's skin tremendously, so it feels good to share them with more people.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A Warner Robins microschool is showing its 50 students how to brainstorm and launch real businesses in just a few short months. The young entrepreneurs at Achieve Academy today showed their products off to customers.

At 13-years-old, Blake Cazeau is the owner of Scented Explosion. He sells all-natural product bath bombs.

"I have this special lavender,” he said. “Me and my mom made this one. It has pink salt and lavender flowers on it, so that's why special to me.”

He's showing off his product for the first time since starting it a few months ago. Tara Pvel is director of Achieve Academy's six-week entrepreneurship program called Bored to Boss. She taught the students to create a business based on what they love.

"Then they go through and find a problem,” Pvel said. “So, they want to fix a problem with their passion and that's really the beginning of all of these businesses."

Cazeau chose skin care.

"I woke up one night. I was six years old, and my skin was like real hot and I couldn't sleep,” he said. “I asked my mom; we checked in the mirror and we went to the doctor and I had eczema. The doctor said, ‘Yeah, he can't use certain soaps. Lotions are out the window.’"

He said these all-natural bath bombs help his and his mom's skin tremendously, so it feels good to share them with more people.

"It's taught me that you need resilience and also some things won't go your way. Like some of my molds, they didn't work,” Cazeau said. “So, I had to persevere and get through it. It's taught me leadership because I had to lead my mom to help me with some of this stuff."

He's ready to make others feel more comfortable in their skin as he does now. Pvel said she feels proud to see all her students launch a business.

"We have a lot of students with anxiety or confidence issues,” she said. “But this allows them to get outside of the box and actually talk to their customers, which is the general public, one on one."

With the money Cazeau makes, he'll be giving back again.

"I have to give some of it to my mom because she bought the products for me," he said.

Pvel said Achieve Academy is an all-year round microschool, which is an alternative option for education, for students that get more attention from teachers because of the small class sizes. She said they specialize in “student-based learning.”
