MACON, Ga. — The family of a Macon teen who was shot and killed says they are in shock. Jahfari Bullard, 19, died Thursday morning according to Macon-Bibb coroner Leon Jones. Investigators with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office say someone shot him in Pleasant Hill on Wednesday night.
One of his family members posted on Facebook saying, "I lost another piece of my heart today." She pleaded, "Young men, please put these guns down."
Neighbor Andre Howard says he knew the teen.
"It makes me feel helpless. It makes me feel sad," said Howard.
Eric Nunn, Bullard's uncle, told 13WMAZ his nephew was a goofy kid who died before his life even really started. He says he recently made plans to take his nephew fishing soon, so the shooting was a complete shock.
A new release from the sheriff's office says the shooting happened at Lamar Street and Ferguson Street.
Howard says it's upsetting to hear violence happen in his neighborhood.
"I'm disappointed. I mean, it's senseless," said Howard.
It's something Howard says is happening too often.
"It's almost numbing me. It's like I hear it every day and it's like it's nothing new, but I don't want to feel that way," said Howard.
He's praying for the family because he says he knows the death affects more than just the people involved.
"It's a rippling effect that happens and it snowballs," said Howard.
