JONES COUNTY, Ga. — On Tuesday, we reported on a shed fire, a deadly wreck involving a fire truck, and a woman who was stabbed in a Jones County home.
Investigators said all three appear to be linked.
On Wednesday, Jones County Sheriff Butch Reece says they're investigating if Michael Snider purposely ran his truck into a fire truck on Highway 49, causing the wreck that killed him.
Incident reports show deputies were called to Snider's home 9 times in 6 weeks at the beginning of 2019, for things like trespassing and domestic disputes.
Nearly all of the reports involve Snider's girlfriend, Julie Gay.
Over the last couple years, Snider and Gay apparently argued over things like using the lawnmower, hiding a breathing machine, and Snider talking badly about Gay's dead mother.
Gay also claimed that he beat her at least twice.
Deputies arrested Snider twice for battery and Gay for trespassing.
They each filed restraining orders against each other, but this year, they were living together again in this house on Morris Stevens Road.
On Tuesday, a shed on Snider's property somehow caught fire, and that's when Snider crashed into the fire truck that was rushing to his house, killing him and injuring a firefighter.
Jones County Fire Chief Don Graham says volunteer Steven Jones was the only person on the truck and had to crawl through the windshield to escape.
"He's got stitches from his head to his toes," says Graham. "It knocked his boots off during the impact," but according to Graham, Stevens is "OK," and is expected to make a full recovery.
24 hours after all of this happened, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Sheriff Butch Reece says there's still a lot of investigating left to do.
"I'm glad that somebody was looking after us, but the misfortune -- I'm just very sorry for the other party," says Graham.
Although investigators have not released the name of the woman found stabbed, Sheriff Reece described her as Snider's longtime girlfriend on Tuesday.
