MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — It's Milledgeville Burger Week and Kai Thai Restaurant on North Columbia Street is hoping to snag another win.
This year's burger is the Thai Royal Burger. It's a seasoned Angus beef patty with homemade curry mayo, lettuce, a hash brown patty, white cheddar, bacon, caramelized onions, and avocado.
"What I like about it is the caramelized onions are cooked and it's so good and it's full of flavor...You don't see avocados on top of burgers like that but it's like Thai style so like different cultures combine," Waiter Jeremy Atal said.
The staff at Kai Thai said it took them a few months to find just the right flavors for their new burger. They were also last year's Burger Week winner with the Kai Thai Burger.
Atal says he gets to meet lots of new people during Burger Week and loves working with the staff to come up with ideas.
"It's amazing because everyone comes together to make this burger and everyone comes together, we all eat it and it's our own style and it's like a fun little competition," he said.
He says there is always time to try something new.
"It's really fascinating because in a small town, there's Chinese restaurants here and there but this is authentic Thai food and you can't get any better than this," Atal said.
Milledgeville Burger Week continues through Saturday. You can enjoy the Royal Thai Burger with chips for $12.00, and just the burger for $9.00. This burger is eligible for to-go orders.
"Spread the word out, you know, because trying new things is always good and meeting new people is always good. That's why when I serve those burgers everyone's like 'omg I've never had a burger like this' I'm like 'yes because this is like out of the box," Atal said.
Kai Thai is open Monday- Friday from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. then re-opens again at 4:30 p.m.-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 p.m.-9 p.m.
