MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — After a "beefy" Milledgeville Burger Week, a burger has been crowned in the event's second annual competition.
The event boasted 16 participating restaurants, over 5,700 burgers sold and at least $51,000 in economic impact for local restaurants from April 17 to April 23.
Milledgeville-man Todd Pulliam managed to eat each of the specialty burgers available during the week and was asked to announce the winners of this year's Milledgeville Burger Week on May 5.
After tallying up the votes and counting burgers sales, Kai Thai's "The Kai Thai Burger" was the victor in the people's choice contest.
We featured the burger in our segment "Central Georgia Eats" and discussed the buzz it was generating. The owner said they went through 50 pounds of beef in one day.
The burger featured a spicy basil garlic beef burger patty with lettuce, pepper jack cheese, bacon, a fried egg and homemade fried string onions. Topping things off, it was served with a sweet Thai chili mayo for dipping.
The restaurant Velvet Elvis sold the most burgers in the competition.
Their "Black-N-Bleu" burger featured a grilled angus beef patty topped with Cajun seasoning, Applewood smoked bacon and bleu cheese crumbles served on a bun.
Other restaurants that took part in the event were:
Amici
Beedie Head's Bar-B-Que
Bollywood Tacos
